The Wireless Internet And Wifi
History: Wireless Internet came into being when, in 1985 a ruling was made by the US Federal Communications Commission, which freed up for use a number of radio spectrum bands that did not require licenses. Then in the Netherlands, in Nieuwegein, NCR Corporation/AT&T (which later became Agere Systems and Lucent Technologies) developed the fore-runner to the WI-FI (Wireless Internet) system. They were planning to use this development for cashier systems.
